During David Moyes period in charge of the club, the Red Devils have often been linked with moves for left-backs to replace the ageing French defender, including Leighton Baines, Luke Shaw and longtime Man Utd target Fabio Coentrao, among others.

However, Evra has remained United’s first-choice left-sided defender throughout the season, his only challenger having been Alexander Buttner.

Although this is likely to change during the summer transfer window, Evra remains open-minded as to where his immediate future lies.

“I will decide in two weeks about what I am going to do,” Evra told the Manchester Evening News.

“I am not lying to anyone. There have been a lot of rumours – am I going or staying. At the moment I have not decided anything. My agent will have a meeting with Manchester United and we will see.

“I just want to wait until the end of the season to decide what to do. Everyone knows how much I love this club. It’s difficult. The reason is an important reason. And you will see. I will tell if I am staying or leaving this club at the end of the season.”
