The NHL on Thursday announced that Hall of Famer Brian Leetch and ex-Philadelphia Flyers scout Patrick Burke are joining Shanahan's department of player safety. Leetch is replacing Rob Blake, who's now an assistant general manager with the Los Angeles Kings, as manager of player safety. Burke is taking the newly-created director position. Shanahan remains in charge of the group, which is responsible for suspending and fining players for in-game rule violations -- which is good, because he still has work to do....

After years of paying dues as an assistant — Ewing is currently on the Charlotte Hornets staff — he’d like to join his former team as head coach.
